In the first years of operation the bureau was the only scientific and technical organization of the region. Even at that time the planning and design office manufactured high quality equipment, designed and developed by the company's employees.
Just then the planning and design office performed designing and technological equipping of various manufactures such as ‘Cheboksary mechanical rubber goods works’, ‘Cheboksary cable plant’, ‘Kanash aggregate plant’ and others. At that moment the product range of the planning and design office included assembly and drilling machines, X-ray equipment, weighing and weight-measuring devices.
Even during the early stages of its operation the company manufactured equipment mostly intended for automation of production processes, improvement of quality of the produced goods and minimization of application of hand labor.
There are a lot of examples: a stand for weight justification designed for automation of imposition of weights on the weighing platform during justification, it relieves the employees from manual displacement of cargos amounting to 60 tons per shift, and the introduction of the flow-conveying line used for electrostatic painting of dial pointer parts used at the weight plants allowed a 2 times productivity increase. Furthermore, various enterprises which used the equipment produced by the planning and design office managed to improve the sanitary conditions of work in some areas, reduce the complexity of operations, increase the volume of the produced goods and even the production culture.
To innovations of the planning and design office obtained during the initial period of operation, include equipment for metal processing. The enterprise worked on solution of problems of metal processing without removing of facing, cutting and mechanical processing under pressure. The most interesting examples of innovations obtained by the planning and design office during that period include a multi-seat drum device designed for simultaneous clamping of cylindrical parts fixed in a rotating plug with the clamping force passed from the body through balls (1971).
In the late sixties the planning and design office entered the structure of the Ministry of Tool Engineering of USSR and acquired its present name which is ‘Technopribor planning and design bureau’.
The area of responsibility of the bureau which is a part of the Ministry consists in solving of problems related to loading, unloading, transportation and storage issues. Practically the planning and design office was responsible for all projects related to optimization and automation of intralogistics performed by more than 250 enterprises governed by the administration. During this period the bureau became a developer of equipment and technological solutions in the field of automation and it began to create products which corresponded to the criteria of the transport and heavy engineering.
